Program for Children 7-9 Years Old

Created and instructed by Lana Startseva

In this class children will be taught how to see complicated objects as an assembly of simpler shapes like ovals, triangles, rectangles and etc. Young artists will learn how to differentiate and manipulate these shapes in order to illustrate something that at first glance seems too confusing and hard. The major task for students in this class is to depict objects that will be immediately recognizable to the others as something they intended to draw.

Each project will always begin with the pencil sketch on a rough copy.  After a sketch is done, a good copy will be started with all the details drawn out with a graphite pencil and then either painted or coloured. The subject matter of the works in this class is going to be flora, fauna and human cultures from different regions of the world!

From time to time children will also do small sculptures.

The duration of the class is one hour, and the maximum number of students is six.
