about Lana
As a child I loved drawing! When I grew older and became more aware of what is it that I enjoyed doing most, I swapped piano lessons for art classes. My training in art began in a small art school, located on a beautiful street in the old European town of Tallinn. This is where I realized that I wanted my future profession to be connected with art. Already in Canada, my interest in animation grew. Storytelling through pictures is what enticed me into Sheridan College Classical Animation program. There I stepped into the world of children's fairy-tales, stories and their characters that we, young animators, were learning to bring to life on paper. I graduated with Honours, and since then I have completed many commercial projects working either as freelance illustrator or animator. After having a child of my own, I wanted to start working closer with kids and opened my home-based art studio where I instructed children of all ages and prepared my older students for entrance into animation and architecture programs. A few years ago, my husband and I, loving nature and outdoors, made a big decision to move to the country. Unfortunately I had to close my art studio as the result. Missing the experience of working with children, it was decided that I will be escaping my country paradise to make art classes available to younger children, aged from 6 to 11 years old at my friend's studio, Ace Art Studio.
