The works that children are going to do will be either still life or illustration on a specific subject,\u00a0 for example a study of animal anatomy or a study of Japanese patterns and etc.\u00a0 Students are going to work in their own pace. Each student will be assigned a project that suits a student\u2019s needs with complexity adjusted to a skill level.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the synopsis of what is going to be covered in this class:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Still life:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students will start drawing and painting objects from real life. The pieces selected for a still life are going to be cylinder objects and organic forms like fruit, flowers and so forth.\u00a0 Students will be explained how to correctly construct a cylinder in 3d space. Working with still life is very important since the eyes are trained to measure the right proportions and capture visual features of an object in observation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shading:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students will learn how to do shading (also called crosshatching) with graphite pencils. They will be taught how to shade round-shaped objects to transfer three-dimensional look.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Composition:<\/strong>\u00a0 Children will be asked to think through the composition of their drawing or painting.<\/p>\n<p>Composition is the organization of the visual elements. The successful composition allows a viewer\u2019s eye to travel effortlessly through the main points of interest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Perspective:<\/strong>\u00a0 Children will learn to convey a feeling of distance through manipulation of scale and tone of foreground and background elements. Students will also learn how to illustrate cylinder objects in perspective. One point perspective will be introduced to students who are ready for this challenge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Illustration:<\/strong>\u00a0 An assignment that is meant to challenge a student\u2019s imagination. Even though certain elements of an illustration need to be visually referenced, the final composition will be created entirely by a student (with instructor\u2019s guidance) and never copied from an existing picture.
